objections towards objectified

As a whole the film was concise and somewhat eyeopening- I was never aware of the role that t inate subconscious actions play in good design. The most striking note to come from the film was the view of design anachronisms in the world. We use futuristic objects like smart phones whilst other aspects of our manufactured world haven't changed much for centuries.
While the very well dressed vacuum cleaner designer would lead us to believe that the status quo is a barbaric mash of useless antiques and the high design works of geniuses i believe that such anachronisms are an inevitable byproduct of an industrial-manufactured society. it isn't the role of the designer to push into every household the newest rehashing of every object even if such an object is far superior in every design aspect- rather it is society, the consumer, that decides what stays, what is beautiful and what will be but in a museum one day and what will fester in heaps till the end of days.

Good design is timeless ergo the anachronisms of design in our society are not problems to be eliminated but a vibrant cacophony of objects to be enjoyed.
